- Wojtek Osinski
Wojtek is an innovator with strong understanding of consumers and marketing. He manages the Taste Poland website. Previously, he successfully managed local and regional brands at Nestle. He’s a pragmatic & result driven team leader; a strategist with long-term thinking; and innovator; and of course, a food traveller & blogger. Wojtek serves as a certified ambassador of the Association in Poland. Favorite cuisine – Italian and Polish, of course. Favorite drink – gin usually with tonic, modern variations work too. Favorite dessert – mango sticky rice. Favorite destination for food or drink – Sicily and Tuscany, Italy. Where I want to travel for food next – Andalusia, Spain.

I’m a Freelance Food and Travel writer and also a Freelance Online Marketing Manager for food and travel brands and destinations from all over the world. I decided to start my food and travel blog in 2010, when I moved to Ireland. Since then, I’ve been working with brands, companies, tourism boards and magazines. The connection between food and travel is the thing I’m interested the most and it allows me to travel a lot to discover food, small local experiences and things that “normal” tourists don’t even know exist. Thanks to my experience, I’m also invited to speak regularly at international food and travel events (e.g. TBEX and similar) and an Ambassador of Italian Food in the World. I’m also a certified sommelier.

Since 2000, Udi has been creating food tourism adventures. Udi built the Bedouin style hospitality camp at the Massada National Park and established the Jerusalem Culinary Institute. As one of the founders of culinary tourism attractions, Udi is a popular speaker on the subject and a consultant to the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. He currently writes and publishes articles about the uniqueness of Israel as a food destination. In 2017-18, Udi served as the elected Chair of the Israeli Association for Culinary Culture. Currently Udi promotes the concept of the Culinary Museum of Israel while being the National coordinator for the Slow Food Chef Alliance.
- Suzanne Storms
Suzanne Storms, Principal Instructor of International Cuisine at the International Culinary Institute in Hong Kong, was raised in the northeastern United States. Her cultural curiosity and dedication to hospitality has led her to China, The United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and back to China. Her focus includes the development of culinary educational programmes, curriculum, and content, teaching, and research on work integrated learning placement and its influence on the career success of culinary professionals. Her professional interests include the work culture of chefs, hospitality development and management, and higher education.
- Suraj Pradhan
Suraj is a professional chef, food writer, Nepalese food enthusiast and dreamer about food tourism in Nepal. He was awarded with the Nepal Tourism Minister's Student Achiever Award 2010 in Australia, which set the tone for his career path. His pride for his nation's cuisine and food heritage led to Suraj starting a 'Let's talk about Nepalese Food' 2013 campaign in Sydney and Nepal, which he co-founded his company, Two Tables Australia. He and his company have planned and organized several gastronomical events, along with food tourism and hospitality consulting company with various stakeholders and partners in Nepal and Australia. Recently he and his team successfully organised FoodTreX Kathmandu, the country's first food tourism conference in Kathmandu. Suraj serves as am Ambassador of the World Food Travel Association in Nepal.
- Steven Shomler
Steven Shomler is a gifted Culinary Storyteller, the Founder of the Culinary Treasure Network, and a Speaker/Teacher who equips people & companies to Leverage the Power of Social Media and Harness the Power of Storytelling. The Culinary Treasure Network includes the Culinary Treasure Show, the Culinary Treasure Website, the Culinary Treasure Podcast & the Craft Beer Podcast, and Savory Travel Adventures. Steven is also a proponent of Soul Satisfying Travel – he believes that travel is a soul enriching spiritual experience, and that Soul Satisfying Travel is travel that feeds the soul that you are.
- Roberta Garibaldi
Roberta Garibaldi is an academic professor with long-established expertise in wine and food tourism. She is also member of a number of scientific committee and editorial boards; among which she is member of the board of the World Gastronomy Institute and of the governing board of the Italian Society of Tourism Science (SISTUR). She participates in many conferences as a keynote speaker and has a long experience in coordinating and managing territorial projects both at international and local level. She has also been a speaker for the wine and food forum of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). She has authored several scientific publications, including monographs, curatorship and contributions in books, scientific journals and conferences’ proceedings. She is the author of the “Report on Gastronomy Tourism in Italy”.
- Midgi Moore
Midgi Moore, CCTP is the owner and Chief Eating Officer for Juneau Food Tours. She has lived in Alaska for more than 10 years and got her start in the culinary industry as a food writer and blogger. Midgi has worked diligently to tell Alaska’s food story, particularly in Juneau, seeking unique opportunities to share Alaska’s rich food story. Her company opened in 2015 and has hosted thousands of hungry visitors in Alaska’s capital city. She serves on the Advisory Board for the World Food Travel Association, from which she earned a Culinary Travel Professional certification. On the local level, she serves as President of the Juneau Downtown Business Association and on the board of Juneau Rollergirls, a non-profit roller derby league. She is also a Junior League volunteer and teaches 5th graders about entrepreneurship. Her passion for food and telling the story of Alaska have been noted in the New York Times, Washington Times, Washington Post, Vogue.com, as well as countless blogs and international and national television shows, including All the Best with Zita and Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted.
- Max Thammaraks
Max was well travelled from a young age; taking holidays and studying abroad from early childhood. His family owns Intco, a bespoke travel business and handling agents for international tour companies, now in its fifth decade of operation. Since taking the helm of the business in 2008, Max has expanded its scope, reach and services to meet the needs of today’s travellers, most recently focusing on food tourism and custom catering. He serves as the company’s Managing Director.
- Maria Athanasopoulou
Maria Athanasopoulou first got involved with tourism in Greece when she started writing articles in 2008, as an amateur but soon afterwards in 2009, she becomes chief editor of the online, non-profitable e-magazine Taksidi 2 Greece. At the same time, she established the company Respond on Demand aiming to the promotion of all types of Greek tourism to travel agents abroad. She is a member of the International Association of tourism writers and photographers and participates with often articles to online magazines and electronic travel platforms. Gastronomy is the main focus of Top Tourism nonprofit company, where Maria is a co-owner. She has addressed speeches to several events concerning the important role of gastronomy to tourism development. She also serves as ambassador in Greece of the World Food Travel Association, supporting the development of food tourism in the region. She currently chairs the Association’s Board of Directors.

When working as a consultant, my primary focus is understanding needs; then provide solutions; then implementing changes; then exceeding goals. - Lionel CheeSingaporeLionel Chee
Graduated from Les Roches Hotel School Switzerland, he has spent more than 10 years in the hotel industry, 20 years running a heritage restaurant in Singapore and catering and presently promoting local heritage food as a licensed tour guide in Singapore and cooking lessons during his spare time. He is also the lead guide for a few travel agents and sits on the board of Society of Tourist Guides.
- Jose Maria de Juan Alonso
José María has had a long career as an international tourism consultant, always involved in the enhancement of the cultural and natural heritage, sustainable tourism and the creation of products and services for niche tourism markets. Through his own company KOAN Consulting he has worked extensively in product design and marketing of food and wine tourism for a variety of regions and countries. Currently he serves as the training director for the Spanish Wine Tourism Association. He also shares the position of Technical Secretary of ITER VITIS – The European Vineyard and Wine Routes. He is currently involved in different food system and food tourism development projects, such as the EU Project “Sustainable Food System for Development within the Social Economy in Europe”, launched in November 2017. He is also a lead in the new project “Los paisajes de la Sierra de Madrid se sientan a la mesa” (The landscape of the Madrid Sierra sits at the table), the first integral approach of responsible food tourism developed in Spain, with a pilot at the regional level financed by the Madrid regional Government. He also serves as Scientific Advisor of FoodTreX Pamplona, held yearly in Pamplona (Navarra, Spain).

Gloria represents the World Food Travel Association as a certified ambassador in Spain. She is one of the world’s foremost researchers of gastronomy tourism, and is an expert on gastronomy and gastronomy tourism in Spain. She also managed the Eat Spain Up! project for 3 years.

Gerrie is an associate professor in the Department of Consumer and Food Sciences in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is recognized academically, both nationally and internationally, as a researcher and expert in the field of Food and Hospitality related consumer behaviour. Her specialty area of interest is food tourism and the use of local foods in culinary mapping. Her current extensive involvement with post graduate students focuses on topics ranging from consumer food practices and behaviour, culinary practices, innovative culinary product development and food tourism. She is currently involved in various research projects regarding consumer aspects of food safety of fresh produce, food waste management and food security. She has published various articles and chapters on food tourism and culinary mapping as a tool in destination marketing.

Garry is a former World Food Travel Association employee. From 2008-2011, he worked, in various roles ranging from mystery (secret) shopping to experience assessment, disability assessment, wellness assessment and project management. He was also instrumental in developing the Association’s proprietary PsychoCulinary profiling research methodology. Garry also serves as an Ambassador to the World Food Travel Association in Wales, United Kingdom. His favorite cuisine: Chinese.
- Erik WolfExecutive Director
Erik is the founder of the food travel trade industry, and Founder and Executive Director of the World Food Travel Association, the world's leading authority on food and beverage tourism. He's also the publisher of Have Fork Will Travel and author of Culinary Tourism: The Hidden Harvest. He is a highly sought speaker on food and beverage tourism and has been featured in The New York Times, Newsweek and Forbes, and on CNN, Sky TV, the BBC, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, PeterGreenberg.com, and other leading media outlets.
Favorite cuisines - Italian, Indian/Thai tied for second, Levant (Middle Eastern) and TexMex. Favorite drink - red wine or hard cider. Chrissa Krassa originally got involved with tourism in 1998, when she was appointed to organize the Philoxenia Tourism Exhibition – held on the grounds of the International Fair of Thessaloniki as one of its most important and visited yearly exhibitions. She offered her services for 13 continuous years on this prominent position till 2011 that she decided to expand her horizons and be the founder of Top Tourism non profit company. This was the opportunity she was seeking to use her long-gained experience and skills in promoting further the Greek tourism effectively, in a worldwide basis. She serves as the Association’s certified ambassador for Cyprus, supporting the development of food tourism in the country.
- Chantal Cooke
Chantal Cooke is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, travel writer, and co-founder of the UK’s ethical radio station PASSION for the PLANET. She has been vegetarian for over 30 years and is passionate about promoting tourism as a force for good – especially when it comes to food. Her key focus is ethical and responsible food tourism, in particular helping restaurants and other food venues cater to, and benefit from, the growing vegetarian, vegan and flexitarian market. Chantal was appointed a London Leader in Sustainability by the Mayor of London for her work promoting green and ethical living. Chantal has worked as journalist / presenter for the BBC, commercial radio, national newspapers and magazines for over 25 years. She has reported from Bosnia and Northern Ireland, and written travel articles for the Independent on Sunday and The Guardian. In 2002 she set up PASSION for the PLANET, which broadcast on DAB and via the Internet, picked up a number of awards and attracted an audience of over 100,000. During that time, Chantal interviewed over 6,000 people. She is author of two books and has been featured in a number of business books and even a novel!

At WTW, she leads consultancy engagements that assist governments, businesses, and entrepreneurs to capitalize on the US$500+ billion wellness tourism industry. She serves as an Ambassador for the World Food Travel Association to the wellness tourism industry.

- Brenda Anderson
Brenda is the Founding Director of the award-winning food tour and events company Tasting Scotland Gourmet Journeys & Events. Before starting Tasting Scotland in 2012, Brenda accumulated 20 years of experience as a Chef, Hospitality, Wine and Gastronomy Lecturer and Head of Department in one of Europe’s largest further education colleges. More recently, she has served on the Food Tourism Scotland Board helping to position Scotland as a must visit destination for food-loving travellers and launched the Tasting Scotland Consultancy to support fledgling (mainly agri-based) businesses diversify into food tourism. For pleasure, she travels – as far as her stomach will take her!
- Amanda NiodeJakarta, IndonesiaAmanda Niode
Amanda is the co-founder and chairperson of Omar Niode Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Indonesia, which works to raise the critical mass of quality human resources and to foster awareness on local cultures and culinary arts. As a food-loving traveler, she champions consumption of local foods, which helps reduce green house gas emissions, the cause of the global climate crisis. Amanda is also committed to training of women in Indonesia, thereby aiding in local economic development. She is a regular speaker at the renowned Ubud food Festival in Bali, and is frequently invited to speak at food events. She contributed to and edited Trailing the Taste of Gorontalo, a book on Food, Travel and Culture in Gorontalo on the Wallacea, a transition zone between Asia and Australia. She was interviewed in episode 8 of the Association’s Eat Well Travel Better Business of Food Travel podcast. She serves as the Association’s official ambassador in the Wallacea region of Indonesia.
- Alina Tomer Giurgiu
Alina has been working in tourism since 1995, having worked as a travel agent, manager, trainer and even representative of the Romanian Ministry of Tourism. Today she works as a professional tourist guide. Alina feels that the best way to understand a country is through its traditions, which include food. Alina serves as an ambassador of our Association in Romania.
- Aashi Vel
Aashi Vel is the co-founder and co-CEO of Traveling Spoon, a company that is changing the future of travel by creating meaningful travel experiences. Traveling Spoon provides travelers with private, authentic food experiences, from homemade meals to cooking classes, in people’s homes around the world. The company has been featured on Business Insider, TIME magazine and Forbes as the future of culinary tourism. Most importantly, the company has meaningful impact, not only on travelers but also on their hosts that are enabled to become micro-entrepreneurs, earning an income doing what they love. An industrial designer and patent holder with a deep passion for problem-solving, Aashi has designed several award-winning products. Aashi enjoys helping aspiring entrepreneurs by brainstorming an appropriate minimum viable product to get their companies started. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design and received her MBA from UC Berkeley. Aashi also co-hosts the Association’s Eat Well Travel Better: The Business of Food Travel podcast.
