Best Food or Beverage Destination

Who Can Enter?

Destination Marketing Organizations

Judging Criteria:

This category is for food or beverage-focused destinations that lead with best practices. Have you recently implemented a food or beverage tourism strategy that is achieving great results? Is the internet starting to notice your unique and diverse food and beverage experiences? Applicants need to provide evidence of why your destination leads with best practices in food and beverage tourism.

Best Food or Beverage Tour Experience

Who Can Enter?

Any type of tour company

Judging Criteria:

Are you a tour operator that goes above and beyond to give your guests a unique and memorable food or beverage tour experience? Do your guests give raving reviews after participating in one of your tours?  This category is for food- and beverage-tour guides, operators and travel agencies who are leading with best practices. Applicants must provide evidence of why you are the best at what you do and how to stand out from other tours.

Best Food or Beverage Lodging Experience

Who Can Enter?

Any type of lodging or hospitality business

Judging Criteria:

Food or beverage experiences often start and finish at a hotel, B&B or wherever the visitor chooses to lodge. Lodging and accommodations are now making a name for themselves in the food travel industry by highlighting their food and beverage offering as a food-lover's attraction itself, making food or beverage the 'star' of the experience. This category is for food- and beverage-focused lodging experiences that lead with best practices.

Best Creative Use of Space for a Food Lover Attraction

Who Can Enter?

Any type of business or destination

Judging Criteria:

Food and beverage experiences are not always delivered in expected locations like a restaurant. You might offer cooking classes on a boat or other peculiar place, a food tour through unknown areas of town, dining in a cave, or even transforming a historic venue into a food-related experience. Show us how you transformed a space into a unique experience for food/ beverage lovers.

Most Innovative Use of Local Ingredients in a Foodservice Menu

Who Can Enter?

Any type of foodservice business

Judging Criteria:

The use and promotion of local ingredients is growing exponentially. A major reason people travel is to experience food and drink products and ingredients from the area they visit. More than just including local products on your menu, how do you feature them? What do you do that is different from other businesses that just use local ingredients? You might use menu messaging, spotlight local producers or other ways of storytelling. Show us how your menu is special. Foodservice includes all restaurants, cafes, bars, food trucks, caterers, etc.

Best Local Storytelling in a Food or Beverage Experience

Who Can Enter?

Any type of business or destination

Judging Criteria:

Food lovers are explorers, and when we find a great food or beverage experience, we want to hear the story, usually from the producer or manufacturer directly. Applicants need to provide evidence of how you tell the story of your product or business, and also of how you measure successful adoption of your story by the press or consumers.

Most Innovative

Food Or Beverage Marketing Campaign For A Destination

Who Can Enter?

Any destination marketing organization or agency/ representative working for a destination marketing organization

Judging Criteria:

Food lovers respond to clever marketing, especially featuring plenty of food "porn". However, with the words "local" and "authentic" being overused in marketing, food- and drink- lovers are tuning out. Applicants should focus on clever campaigns with different techniques, new verbiage, compelling stories and innovative methods to entice food/drink lovers.
