Gabriel Laeis

Gabriel C. M. Laeis is a professor of Hospitality Management at IUBH International University, Germany, where he enjoys lecturing on topics of hospitality, gastronomy, sustainability and business strategy. Previously, he worked for a number of hospitality companies and earned degrees in Hotel Management (BA) and Organic Food Systems (MSc). For his PhD in Development Studies he looked at the role of cuisine in tourism-agriculture linkages in Fiji, finding that Western-driven mass tourism has a tendency to colonize the foodscape and alienate local cuisines. In 2018, Gabriel co-organised the first conference on tourism and the SDGs in Auckland.
