Maria Jose Villacis

María Jose holds an M.A. in Food Tourism from Basque Culinary Center, a B.A. in Gastronomy from UEES with a minor in F&B Management. She is currently pursuing an MBA with UNIR.
 
In her spare time, she loves traveling, walking around new cities, and learning about their history. She has a not-so-secret love for extreme adventures enjoying activities like free diving, scuba diving, and sky diving. Her outdoor activities also include rock climbing, camping, and hiking.
 
María José recently finished an internship focusing on research at the WFTA. She has joined the WFTA as our newest Junior Ambassador for Ecuador and is currently working under the mentorship of Nicolás Perez, Ecuador’s WFTA Certified Ambassador, and Country Director. Here, they are looking to unify the gastronomic value chain with stakeholders from their country to put Ecuador on the global gastronomic map.
