New Ambassador in Nigeria

The World Food Travel Association welcomes its newest ambassador, Ugonna Ejiogu from Nigeria.

This week we announced the certification of our newest ambassador, Ugonna Ogechi Ejiogu from Nigeria.

Ugonna is an accomplished professional in Nigeria's food industry, and a 
passionate Nigerian entrepreneur.  She is a pioneer in food tourism in Nigeria under the brand name Mitya’s Food Diary. There she is also the co-founder of The Tang Impact, a food and hospitality consulting company. And Ugonna also is a fellow in the Leading African Women in Food Fellowship (LAWFF) Program.

 

Ugonna has traveled extensively throughout her country, seeking out hidden gems, meeting the people behind the food and telling untold food stories. She is a food traveler who is passionate about promoting the rich and diverse cuisines of Africa. With her company The Tang impact, she has helped restaurants function at full capacity by also creating employment opportunities for numerous individuals seeking hospitality jobs.

 

Ugonna's food exploits have been published in respectable publications in her country. She was named the “Tourism personality of the first quarter of 2022" by Let’s go Nigeria and she was also named as “Africa’s 100 most influential travel & hospitality influencers 2022" by Ranks Africa. She has done numerous insightful reviews for restaurants and hotels in Nigeria and has also been a judge at various food competitions.

 

Ugonna is passionate about promoting tourism to Africa by creating awareness of the dishes that can be enjoyed on the continent by visitors. She has made positive contributions to communities by promoting the culture and heritage of people. And through her work with Mitya’s Food Diary, she hopes to create a additional positive impact on the culinary scene in Africa.

In this episode number 72 of the Taste of Place podcast, we speak with Audrey Kelly. Audrey is the co-owner and head pizza maker at Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage in Boulder, Colorado in the USA, which she runs with her brother, Peter. After studying pizza-making under Tony Gemignani, she opened her restaurant, and achieved quick success, with the restaurant having been been featured on the Food Network; the Travel Channel; and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Audrey won first place in the Pizza in Teglia competition in Naples, Italy, and has been featured in the New York Times and NPR. As a mother of twin boys, she balances family life with expanding her business, including plans for a second location. Audrey also grew up in a family of bakers, so she knows a thing or two about making dough!
