Our Area Representatives support our goal to preserve and promote culinary cultures through hospitality and tourism. They play an important role as connections between our Association and destinations around the world. Representatives are passionate about spreading the awareness and visibility of their local culinary culture to the rest of the world. They work hard to foster collaborations and identify impactful synergies between the private and public sectors within their destination and our organization.

There are two kinds of representatives. First are Ambassadors, who have at least 10 years' work experience and who maintain a more formal and structured relationship with our Association. Second are Attaches, who have a less formal relationship and who help in different ways.  Both are professionals committed to the culinary tourism industry and who want to see positive change in their destination.  Either role gives you visibility, both locally in your destination and in our global community.

AMBASSADOR BENEFITS

Certified ambassadors of our Association enjoy the following benefits during your term:

• Monthly networking and knowledge sharing Ambassador meetings hosted by industry founder Erik Wolf
• Use of “ambassador” title in all of your social media properties
• Listing as an Ambassador on our website
• Access to private Ambassador group in our team collaboration platform
• Sliding scale discounts on Association products and services
• Media referrals for interviews
• Act as official Association representative or speaker at trade shows, conferences and media interviews
• Work together to plan a FoodTreX Regional Food Travel Summit in your area
• Work together to hold a seminar, webinar, roundtable or training for professionals in your area.

ATTACHÉ BENEFITS

Culinary Attachés of our Association enjoy the following benefits during your term:

• Exclusivity - we only accept a limited number of new attachés each year
• Visibility as a Culinary Attaché in your area and globally
• Permission to use the Culinary Attaché title for the duration of your term
• Exclusive Culinary Attaché logo that you can use in your official capacity
• Networking opportunities with other culinary attachés and ambassadors of the Association
• Your name, location and link to your LinkedIn profile on our WFTA website
• Feature a story about you in our Bite newsletter once per year (6000 readers each month). Terms and conditions apply.
• Chance to become a WFTA ambassador after one year of attaché service

Unlike our Ambassador program, attachés are not required to complete training or to be certified by our Association. Only an application is required. AMBASSADOR DUTIES

In addition to the expectations of our Attaches, Certified Ambassadors of our Association perform any or all of the following tasks:

• Serve as a liaison between our organization and the food, beverage, tourism and hospitality industries in your area -- you work in your own language, your own time zone and your own culture
• Distribute news and other information from our organization in your area (may need to be translated before distribution)
• Serve as a contact between our Association and media in your area
• Share content about your destination's culinary culture - we may post it on our website and share on social media
• Identify and support gastronomy tourism development projects in your area, and recommend the best ways we can work together
• Explore holding a FoodTreX Regional Food Travel Summit in your area
• Explore holding a round table meeting, seminar or training session for professionals in your area
• Support Attaches in or near your area

ATTACHÉ EXPECTATIONS

Culinary attachés of our Association are expected to make the following contributions:

• Support our Association's mission and manifesto
• Spread the word about the WFTA and our industry at local events, fairs or other meetings in your area
  
• Conduct an annual roundtable in your area (if there is no ambassador in your area)
• Promote WFTA newsletter signups and social media follows in your area
• Host a social event (find a local sponsor to cover your costs) -- if in-person is not possible, then a virtual one
• Maximize your social media presence by sharing your own culinary experiences, including posts from WFTA (all platforms)
• Spread the word about, and participate in, World Food Travel Day every April 18 (same day every year)
• Support ambassadors in carrying out their tasks or projects, under the Ambassador's leadership, within their area

1. Anyone interested in serving as an Ambassador must first be a premium member on our GastroTerra membership community. First join as a free member here and then after you're logged in as a free member, read these instructions on how to upgrade to professional level.
2. Once you have joined, then contact us and let us know you are interested in becoming an Ambassador. We also recommend that you become active within our GastroTerra community to show your interest and commitment. If we agree that you would be a good fit as an area ambassador, we will invite you to enroll in the required ambassador training. There is no cost for ambassador training.
3. After you complete the ambassador training, you will begin enjoying your new Ambassador benefits immediately.

2. If your application is approved, the next step will be to become a premium member in our GastroTerra membership community (the same as for Ambassadors). We will explain how to do this and also how to get 50% off your first year membership dues (normal dues are only €99 annually).
